Lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, anger, envy and pride. But which is the worst of these? That’s what I wanted to give my opinion on, as well as suggest an 8th deadly sin.
I think the worst of the 7 is envy. Though they are all bad, envy in my book is the worst because it can completely distract you from the good in life. As you desire what someone else has, you’ll lose sight of all of the good things you have. My dad says that “envy is the path to miseryâ€, because there is always someone that has something you don’t.
I also think sloth is very bad, because you would stop taking care of your health, your appearance, your hygiene, your bills, and everything in your life would keep getting worse. Also, sloth could lead to gluttony, because people that sit around seem to eat more. The gluttony, sloppy appearance, and everything else lead to you being lonely and without a companion, which might cause you to lust more. Your frustration could turn to anger and then greed. Like a chain reaction, or better, a personal atom bomb destroying relationships all around you.
I don’t think that pride would be half bad, as long as you contain it. A little pride in your school work, challenges, and character could be good for your self-esteem.
Now if I had to pick anything in the world to be the 8th deadly sin…it would have to be: Constant Pessimism. I think pessimists need to get slapped with a dirty flip-flop. In case you don’t know what a pessimist is, they are the people who look at the glass half-empty. They look at all the horrible things in life. They don’t even try to see the good. Pessimism could lead to depression, and you could become a hermit, sitting in your house unhappy all the time. That is a waste of life, and people should avoid thinking like that. Even when really bad things happen, that’s life, and you can’t dwell on it all the time.

I think “pessimism” could come under “sloth” as a sort of sub heading. Looking at the bright side in the face of adversity takes energy and hard work. Pessimism is a form of just not bothering, or an excuse to not try. Aren’t there seven great whatsits, the opposite of the seven deadly sins? Can anyone remember?

What a topic? This makes me think.
I agree with a lot of your ideas. They all seem to lead to misery. The picture is too funny! That does not look like you. Where did you find that picture? I hope that he was paid to take that photo with that crazy hat. He does look pretty miserable.
Talk to you soon,

According to Wikipedia there are 7 Virtues. See below:
“The Seven Virtues were derived from the Psychomachia (’Contest of the Soul’), an epic poem written by Aurelius Clemens Prudentius (c. 410) entailing the battle of good virtues and evil vices. The intense popularity of this work in the Middle Ages helped to spread the concept of Holy Virtue throughout Europe. Practicing these virtues is alleged to protect one against temptation from the Seven Deadly Sins, with each one having its counterpart.”
They are: Chastity, Abstinence, Liberality, Diligence, Patience, Kindness, Humility.
I kinda like the Boy Scout Law: http://www.scouting.org/factsheets/02-503a.html
