Living Creatively

If you have been harbouring dreams of starting your own business this is the post for you.

Frugality Births Creativity

I have learned that frugality fuels creativity. Creativity fuels our bank account. Our bank account fuels a peace about what we have. The peace fuels a happy home. A happy home fuels my life. My life fuels my family. My family fuels me.

Dolls

Megin has nominated this article ‘No Bratz Dolls Please‘. Megin says she hates these things and I’m inclined to agree with her. When it comes to toys I’m pretty relaxed, I don’t mind the odd cowboy outfit with holster or lightsabre or a bit of ‘dressing up’ make-up, but these dolls go too far. They won’t be taking residence in my house, that’s for sure. Well done to Thrifty Mommy for highlighting a topic that I’ve heard a lot of unhappy parents complaining about.

Gift Inspiration

The Not Quite Crunchy Parent
has a post on giving the gift of experience. Megin nominated this and posted something similar herself a while back which really struck a chord with me. So much so that on behalf of Erin I requested such experiences and she was lucky enough to receive vouchers for a ceramic centre, vouchers to the zoo and we were even given cinema, meal and accompanying babysitting vouchers ;) This really is the way forward.

New Blog

Barb wants to bring our attention to a new blog called DIY Preschool which she feels looks very promising. I have to agree, the topic appeals to me a lot, the most recent post suggests thirteen simple nature activities, and they are refreshingly simple.

That’s all folks vote, vote, vote!!!

I’m voting for “Frugality births Creativity”- I’m always inspired by Amy’s well thought out plans and I visit her blog regularly for tips.

I vote for KAREN at THRIFTY MOMMY. I guess if you want trashy daughters, then BRATZ would be the way to go.

  • Kim // Feb 27, 2007 at 11:30 pm

I’ve got to go with Karen at Thrifty Mommy…well done Karen!

  • kailani // Feb 27, 2007 at 11:39 pm

Hurray for someone who will stand up and go against the flow; especially when it is harmful in a lot of ways. Not many people are willing to do the right thing these days. They are trash dolls. You can guess what will come out next if these catch on; not if I have my say. Well Done Thrifty Mommy, Great Job!!!!!

I don’t know who Megin is, but thanks for reading my blog and for nominating me! :)

Thanks Megin. It’s nice to meet a faithful reader. :handshake: :) Hope you enjoy the articles. They certainly come from the way I was raised. I can’t imagine not living a thrifty life.

  • Shell // Feb 28, 2007 at 12:50 pm

    I vote Thrifty Mommy.

  • Chantal Hubert // Feb 28, 2007 at 2:15 pm

Another Thrifty Mommy vote! My ten, eight and five year old girls are the only ones in their classes who are not allowed to play with them. They know why and tell anyone who questions them why I refuse to allow them here.

  • Darlene // Feb 28, 2007 at 2:27 pm

I vote for Karen as well. Those dolls have alays given me the creeps and I can’t imagine buying one for any little girl in my life.

  • Tatermarie // Mar 1, 2007 at 12:48 am

I gotta vote for Amy. Her site is very inspiring, and this post really struck a chord with me. I love momadvice.com!

  • MC Milker // Mar 1, 2007 at 4:01 pm

Thanks for nominating me…but, I have to vote for the “No Bratz Dolls, Please”. As I write on inappropriate toys often, I have agree with her!

  • Karen // Mar 1, 2007 at 8:38 pm

Wow! I’ve been reading these posts. They are good. Can we just vote for everyone? ;)

  • Kerri // Mar 2, 2007 at 3:53 am

My vote goes with Karen. The whole hiding the boy doll thing is disturbing.

  • Erica // Mar 2, 2007 at 8:49 am

    **VOTING IS CLOSED**

Please nominate for next weeks hot stuff (erica.littlemummy@googlemail.com)
