This week truly was HOT, there are eight nominations for the Hot Stuff Award. Please vote in the comments for your favourite, the award will be presented to the site with the most votes on Thursday (Scottish time).

And The Nominees Are:

Reading

Little Legends offers 12 suggestions for books to read aloud.

Food

Shannon posted clear the pantry chili at Parent Hacks. My mum used to make something similar which she called atchit-batchit-and-scratchit?? Tasted good.

I love the idea of this candy sushi. Fun to make, and fun to eat I bet. Featured at Kids Cuisine. Nominated by Megin.

Money

I’m nominating The Simple Dollar again this week for his post which tackles how he plans to teach his son about personal finance.

Megin has nominated this article which discusses how to afford being a SAHM. The article itself poses the question. The real meat is in the excellent comment thread that follows. Nice work Beth.

Birthdays

I like this idea of a birthday treasure hunt from Denise at Let’s play math!

Sidenote: I’m looking for some birthday inspiration. Please help if you can :)

Art & Craft

Two mums in a blog features a name wall art project. Nice to give as a gift or for your own baby’s nursery.

Discipline

Seven steps to keeping kids quiet in public. Now that’s a post we could all do with reading. By Rory at Hamelife.

Okay, it’s over to you. Vote, vote, vote!!

Is it too late? I get my GNMParents posts by email, so it’s already Thursday morning… I’m voting for the birthday treasure hunt at Let’s Play Math. It sounds like such a fun tradition to start! I have a suspicion that my kids would be searching for it in advance, though, once they knew it was a tradition. ;)

I vote for Birthday Treasure Hunt, as that is exactly what my wife and kids did for my last birthday. There is nothing more fun than a BTH.

Can I vote? I made 2 of the nominations. We do the treasure hunt for my boys too. It started with a map when they were too young to read. My 7 year old asked on the eve of his birthday. He was super excited!

If my vote counts, it’s for the stay at home conversation. I think the comments on this post could help people who want to stay home find the motivation as well as some helpful information to make this happen.

Anyone can vote whether you have nominated or not. Voting open for a good 7 hours yet, and if you sneak a vote in before I check in the morning, then good on you. Keep Voting…
