Last week was a great week for Hot Stuff! We got a lot of votes, and while all of the nominated posts were clearly HOT, Jenn emerges as this week’s winner of the coveted “I’m Hot” button. Jenn spends her time Serving the Queens and her Utopia post was a call to change the world… or at least the way we approach it. Congratulations, Jenn! Thanks for putting your thoughts, opinions and experiences out here for us to share.
This week, for your reading pleasure:
On the Real Estate Moms Blog, Cheri Alguire draws comparisons between dealing with your children and your coworkers in her post Parenting and Work Relationships. I think she makes a great point about the transferable skills that parenting builds. We spend so much time thinking about how we communicate with our children, a lot of which easily translates to the working world… just try not to take away your boss’ privileges!
Nomotherearth has compiled a list of 100 Things I did not Know before I had a Baby It’s an impressive list, and I bet we all could agree with a whole lot of these, and add a few of our own! My favorite: “If a new baby poops when the diaper is not on, it’s got an impressive trajectory. Watch out.”
Beck at Frog and Toad are Still Friends offers a list of summertime activities in her post Keeping the Monsters Happy. I love#9: “Line a shoebox with a piece of paper and dip some marbles in paint. Plunk them in the box, put the lid on and twirl everything around.” We usually use a coffee can or some other roll-able container that closes securely. Good fun!
Binky at 24/7 is celebrating her second anniversary of motherhood. In 24/7/730 she reflects on the changes and hits on the things only parents can relate to. Before you read the last paragraph, take a deep breath. It’s beautiful.
Have you discovered Imaginif? It’s “the largest child protection conversation in the world.” They are offering a free ebook on Protecting Your Child’s Personal Safety. This is a tough topic, and there is a line between being safe and being obsessive. This site offers some great resources for talking to your children about safety.
The NY Times has an article called Summer Express: 101 Simple Meals Ready in 10 Minutes or Less. I definitely cook more in the winter than in the summer, and these meal suggestions just might help my family rediscover their taste buds!
After you spend some time with the nominees, let us know what you think! We will post the results next Tuesday! Also, leave us a comment or email Megin with your nomination for next Tuesday! Remember the entire web is eligible. Help introduce the GNMParents to your internet!
